The print comes from the Subways portfolio published in 1977. The portfolio featured ten photographs and five etchings of New York City. Only 30 numbered and 5 artist-proof portfolios were produced. This piece comes from one of the artist’s proof portfolios. The photograph is pencil signed recto below the print.CONDITION: The photograph is in near-fine condition. The mounting board for the photograph has scattered foxing throughout, see photos. The foxing does not impact the black-and-white image. For sale is a beautiful gelatin silver print by renowned photographer Marion Post Wolcott (1910-1990) entitled “Two Couples in a Booth in a Juke Joint, Moorehave, Florida, 1939.” The print is pencil signed by Wolcott on the back of the print, see photos. The original photograph dates from 1939. This is a later printing by the photographer from the original negative. The image measures 12″ x 9″. The print is in fine condition with no noticeable flaws, see photos. The frame measures 17 1/2″ x 14 1/4″. The frame is in very good condition with minor wear at the edges, see photos. Kenna attended Upholland College in Lancashire, the Banbury School of Art in Oxfordshire, and the London College of Printing. In the 1980s, Kenna moved to San Francisco and worked as Ruth Bernhard’s printer. Kenna’s photography focuses on unusual landscapes with ethereal light achieved by photographing at dawn or at night with exposures of up to 10 hours. Since about 1986 he has mainly used Hasselblad medium format and Holga cameras. His work has been shown in galleries and museum exhibitions in Asia, Australia, Europe and the United States. He also has photographs included in the collections of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., the Patrimoine photographique in Paris, the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, among numerous others.

Handmade Abstract Art Tile. NYC SF Mural Grafitti Banksy Obey streetart decay

This piece is unique, it comes from a photo I took of a wall with some beautiful peeling paint and unique metal decay in NYC in 2004. I mirrored it to create a mesmerizing effect and then collaged that with another mirrored shot of wall decay from the city from around the same time period. And like most Street Art and Wall photography it is long a thing of the past as the ever changing walls of the city ebb and flow and their faces and facets breathe in and out like the trees in the forest. Momento Mori! I have this one on a cut and sanded piece of cement board. The photo is mounted onto it and then sealed with clear gloss polyurethane. When doing these mirror pieces The Art really is in the Eye of the Beholder as everyone sees something different…but to my eyes I see and have titled this piece, ‘Cloud Dragon’ One last note in these collages each individual image is printed, layered and pasted on separately to give just that extra bit of subtle dimensionality and physicality. Ie I’m not layering them in Photoshop and then printing the flattenen image as one print. All pieces are one of a kind, hand-made and unique and involve my own original photography while living in the east Village of NYC from 1997 to 2008 and in Northern California since then. All of the mounting and construction of the final pieces are done on hand here at my studio in Nevada City CA.
