For sale is a signed print of Thomas Mangelsen Jewel of the Desert – Northern Cardinal. Limited edition LOW NUMBER coming in at 172/1500. It is in good condition, it was hanging on a wall in an office out of direct light for 30 years so there might be minor wear on the frame. There is tape on the hanging cord that has dust on it. Small age spots on the brown backing paper. See photos for general condition. I could not find the COA but this was purchased directly from the artist in 1998 as a gift to my grandmother. It’s a 8 x 10 print in a 13 1/2 x 16 1/2 frame. It will be packed securely with protection and shipped with usps

This listing is for the Thomas D. Mangelsen framed photograph, “The Long Journey”, circa 1994; # 293 of a limited edition of 1200. This rare piece features a family of elephants as they travel across the Amboseli National Park in Kenya. It measures about 18″ high x 22.75″ diameter and is presented behind non-glare glass in a wood frame. The frame shows signs of wear to the edges. Thomas D. Mangelsen, American Photographer; spent his formative years along the banks of the Platte River hunting and fishing. Mangelsen's understanding of the natural world stems from a childhood rich in outdoor adventures. Tom grew up exploring the Nebraska landscape with his brothers Bill, David, and Hal, many times at their father Harold's side. Handcrafting his first frames with David in their garage, Tom bucked convention of what was traditionally considered “art” and opened his first gallery in Jackson, Wyoming in 1978, featuring signed, limited edition prints in the tradition of wildlite artists such as Owen Gromme, an early mentor.
